assistant/researcher based in Brussels to support her in policy and legislative work. Sarah Ludford is a leading and high-profile member of the European Parliament’s committees on civil liberties, justice & home affairs (LIBE) and vice-chair of its sub-committee on human
rights. She is also a member of the EP delegation to the US and a member of the UK House of Lords.The role will centre on support for Sarah Ludford’s work on the LIBE committee, especially following the progress of issues and legislative reports, drafting amendments, preparing briefings, speeches & articles, and participating in meetings.
The successful applicant will have a good grasp of EU activity on justice & home affairs and be supportive of European security and border cooperation while keen to ensure civil
liberties are upheld. S/he will preferably be a law graduate or at least have a high degree
of legal awareness. S/he will be politically aware and sympathetic to the Liberal Democrats, and preferably have some EU/European Parliament experience. S/he will be highly organised, have excellent communication and good IT skills and the ability to work on own initiative, and be pleasant to work with and flexible in helping with other office tasks.Interviews will be held in Brussels or London.
